If you see a message such as "this page can not be displayed" or another cryptic looking error in the unlock screen, such as this (or something similar), depending on the specific title you are using):

then one of these things is happening:

  • Possibility 1: you are not connected to the Internet at all. If you can read this web page, then this probably isn’t the case. However, please do remember that you need to be connected to the internet while unlocking our software.
  • Possibility 2: our unlock servers are currently unavailable due to a technical issue. This doesn't happen very often (and is probably not the case now, since this 'unlock help wizard' runs on the same server as the unlock system), but it is not out of the realm of possibility. #3 and #4 below are far more likely.
  • Possibility 3: There is a fix from Microsoft that may heal your computer in some situations. Click the 'try this first' link below to try this.
  • Possibility 4: If the above does not solve it, this is what's almost certainly going on - if the Microsoft fix does not help you, what is going on is that your INTERNET SECURITY, FIREWALL, AND/OR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE is preventing our software from seeing the Internet, even if your web browser can see it just fine.

Please click here to learn about firewalls, VPNs, security suites, and anti-virus software and how they might be causing your issue even though you might at first be 'sure' that they're not. Trust us, this really might be the problem. We've seen this plenty of times before. It couldn't hurt to read this. Really.
