HA1205 TBM-3D, VTN-90, Night Torpedo Squadron, USS Enterprise, March 1945

Commissioned on 25 August 1944, Night Torpedo Squadron 90 (VTN-90) was one of the
first full US Navy squadrons developed and trained specifically for night and all-weather
carrier operations.
VT(N)-90 and VF(N)-90 ( Night Fighter Squadron 90) deployed 37 TBM-3Ds as Night Air
Group 90 with Enterprise on 24 December 1944 through April 1945. They operated off
the coast of Kyushu in coordination with day-time squadrons and kept the Japanese
aircraft pinned down and destroyed and disrupted shipping trying to re-supply and
reinforce the island.
