The Android™ apps on this page work great with the vast majority of Android-based mobile phones (smartphones), tablets, and similar devices - however, they are NOT intended for use with your PC, Mac, or iPhone / iPad.
Apps including ours for Android devices are available for purchase via Google's Android App Market and/or Amazon's Android App Store. If you have a compatible Android-based device, you are welcome to purchase our Android apps from the Google Play (formerly known as the Android App Market) and/or Amazon Android App Store.
Our Android apps (programs) have been needed to be specifically designed, programmed, and tested (a process involving hundreds to thousands of hours and specialized skills and tools) to work on Android devices and they certainly do work great on them. However, this also means that they work on compatible Android devices only--purchases made via the Google Play and/or Amazon Android App Store are not compatible with and will not work on, for example, your PC, Mac, or iPhone/iPad.
If you'd like to use a given app for both your Android device and its equivalent piece of software for your PC, Mac, or iPhone/iPad (where one is available), as some people do in order to get 'the best of both worlds', you would need to purchase these separately. This 'a la carte' system ensures that you pay for only that which you intend to use and is fair to all involved.

I have an Android™ tablet such as a Motorola Xoom™ or Samsung Galaxy Tab™ Will the graphics be 'full-sized?'
Yes! Absolutely. Our apps are made to natively work with a very wide variety of screen sizes and resolutions and also have full, dynamic support for different screen orientations (landscape vs portrait).
Is one of the apps sufficient to prepare me for my FAA knowledge test?
Our GroundSchool FAA apps are complete systems, featuring the totality of questions, answers, and explanations as found in our desktop computer software that has helped thousands of people pass their tests. So yes, in theory, the app is 100% all that you need. However, in practice, while the apps are great and can be used exclusively, solving some problems on the limited space of some devices (such as on a relatively small Android phone screen) can be difficult, so many people purchase both an Android™ version for use on the road (and for hard core 'question drills', if desired) and also the PC version for more contemplative home study). Again, in terms of content, however, it's all there in the iOS versions.
I want to use both the PC software and Android app. Can I get a discount?
We'd love to be able to offer this. Unfortunately, the Android™ apps must be purchased via the Android App Marketplace and the Google App Marktplace policy does not allow us to reliably co-mingle promotions like this. (In fact, when you order the app, we don't even know that you are one of our customers).
Are the Android™ apps up to date?
Here's the really cool thing - the Android™ apps feature a built-in update mechanism. What this means is that with just a few clicks, our app will check the internet for updated data and download them to your device as necessary. This is integrated, fast, and free for those who have purchased the app. That also said, we tend to update the 'build packages' for our apps often, so chances are that your data is up to date the moment you download it from the App Marketplace, even if you don't use the built-in update right away.
Do I need to be online to use the apps?
No, you don't! Once an app is installed on your device (after you purchase it from the Android App Marketplace), you don't need to be actively connect it to use it. This means, for example, that you can spend your time in a passenger seat of an automobile or aircraft studying even when you don't have an active internet connection. Of course, you need to have an internet connection to your device to get updates from our servers from time to time, but as far as everyday use goes, you certainly do NOT have to be connected to the Internet.
When does my app purchase expire?
Pursuant to the terms of the App Market EULA, this is a LIFETIME PERSONAL LICENSE to ues the app. In other words, it doesn't expire! It will be waiting for you when you need this. Compare this to our competitor whose more expensive product has very short expiration dates, forcing you to pay extortionate continuation fees if you want to keep studying before a test or review later on.
I saw some other FAA test prep apps at the apps market...
At the time of this writing, our FAA knowledge test prep apps are FAR SUPERIOR to any of the other apps that we have seen. Why?
We offer free lifetime upgrades. They don't.
Ours is easier to use, with more study and learning modes.
Our material is maintained and kept up to date by a professional team of editors. We have seen an app or two which clearly uses some plagarized version of some severely out of date FAA test bank.
Ours feature more detailed explanations than any other product, period.
Ours feature more illustrated explanations than any other product, period (in fact, as of this writing, none of our competitors even offer illustrated explanations).
Our questions are carefully organized by test, so you study only those questions that you will likely encounter on your actual test.
In short, our product is the most likely to help you score highly on your test with a relativel minimum study time and hassle.
The apps feature the same number of questions as the PC software. Our FAA preps feature question sets very representative of the overall FAA test banks and not just the small 'sample' banks that the FAA have put on their website and that form the basis of vastly inferior competitors' products.
I have trouble updating the content from my device.
Some of the updates databases for our products are large, due the large amount of questions, images, and explanation content involved. The amount to download may be significant, especially if you are not connected via WiFi or other 'dedicated' network. If you find downloads or updates failing, please accept our apologies while also recognizing that 99.9% of the time, this is caused by something outside of our direct control, such as your connection to the Internet. Here's what you can do:
First, if you're not connected via WiFi, try downloading the app or update when you are. If you're connected via 3G, or, even worse, via non-3G mobile internet on your device, this may simply be too much for your telecommunications provider to reliably handle.
Next, if you are connected by WiFi, try restarting your device and trying again. You may want to wait a while before trying again in case it is a temporary Internet / network issue.
Make sure there is sufficient free space on your device! Our updates can be large - make sure you have at least 200mb of free space on your device.
