Diecast Aircraft Information  Diecast Aircraft Information MetalWings Diecast Aircraft Reference by Dauntless Aviation
At the end of WWII the RCAF was using the Harvard Mk. IIBs training but decided to sell a large
number of them to civilians. It wasn’t long after that the Cold War began and the RCAF wished
they had these trainers back in service. To fill the shortage they leased 100 T-6Js from the USAF
and ordered 270 Harvard Mk. IVs from the Canadian Car & Foundry in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The RCAF operated the Mk. IV until 1966 before retiring them.

North American Harvard Mk. IV 20213 c/n CCF4-4 was built in late 1951 in Thunder Bay, Ontario
by the Canadian Car & Foundry. The aircraft was taken on charge by the RCAF on November
24, 1951 and was withdrawn from use on July 5, 1965 and sold to a private individual. The
aircraft saw service at four RCAF flight schools during those 14 years. In 1973 the Canadian
Warplane Heritage Museum found the aircraft in Hamilton, Ontario and acquired it as the second
aircraft for their new collection.
