This is the Safelog Pilot Logbook Software Version History Page (Change Log) We have put this up here at the request of several of our 'power' users to guide you through recent and upcoming changes to the software. Those of you who have been using Safelog for some time recognize that we really do have a commitment to making Safelog the best it can be. That said, please recognize that the below change log is a "best effort" service only. It is subject to error, inaccuracy, and omission. If we list some feature for a future version, there is a possibility that that feature may change, be ultimately not included, or have its expected inclusion date pushed back. So, none of this is a "promise", just our "best working guess" at any given time. There may be a version listed below that is not yet publicly available. This will happen when we are close to releasing a new version. Use the "current version" box in Safelog as the definitive guide as to what the current version is now. If a newer version is listed below, then assume that that version is still under development. Please also note that due to time concerns, some of the below may be cut and paste directly from our internal programming notes, so may not be perfectly clear at times. Again, this is an 'expert user' page allowing you a 'behind the scenes' look.

This is a LIVE, WORLDWIDE, COLLABORATIVE airport database. Basically, what this means is that your Safelog logbook can now have a much more up to date airport listing when you want it. We will be significantly expanding the PilotNav.com site - what's there now basically feeds Safelog well enough, but we hope to expand this, with your help, over time, to be the best airport resource for pilots - and, crucially, one that is not tied to only one country, but is truly international. Support for 'career milestones' - a centralized way to record important flying career events Printing comments can now be an arbitrary fixed width New interface for storing endorsement and other scans More flexible support for display of names. 4.01 April 12, 2007	Small bug fixes to v4.0. One had to do with users who had in previous versions stored non-photo items in the old photo slots and the other slightly more serious one had to do with a bug in saving aircraft types in the CAA/JAA version of Safelog (sigh - it was linked to spelling of Airplane vs Aeroplane). In general, expect a few small updates such as this in the next few days as we sort out v4.0.
3.88 - 3.94 Nov 15, 2006 to Jan 25, 2007	Big Update! Lots of new stuff. Much better support for comments / journal entries, photos, and the ability to attach other files, such as pdfs, word files, etc to flights. New graphics all over the place. Jump to page / jump to date. Updates to the FAA and JAA currency and limitations limiters More fair handling of Safelog for PC license terms. We are now beginning to enforce the license terms that before were stated, but not enforced. Support for Australian Medical Certificates added natively FAA medical certificate info now inputs directly to FAA Currency Analyzer Automated night time calculations! Works when times are set to GMT/UTC/Z only for now. Making this work reliably with AM/PM is coming in the not too distant future. Our night calculation algorithm is HIGHLY accurate. We looked at a few others' out there, and recognized some of the mistakes that they had made and produced a much better system than some of the others we found. That said, it's still a best-guess system in some sense, since you obviously don't tell the software where the aircraft is and at what altitude for every second of the flight. Overall improvements to the entry screen to make it clearer and faster + considerably more.
3.88 - 3.94 Nov 15, 2006 to Jan 25, 2007	Quite a number of changes. Apologies that we haven't updated this change log rigorously in the interim. The following list is not exhaustive: More support for various FAA and CAA/JAA currency support Internal changes related to an upcoming CANADA version of Safelog New 'logbook page' graphics. 3.61-3.63 Feb 13-20, 2006	Mostly, these versions have tweaked little things relating to getting the synchronization of the PocketPC software to work with as many users and devices as possible. A few other relatively minor bugs, including one introduced in 3.60 relating to the display of the reports, have been fixed as well.
3.60 Feb 8, 2006	Safelog for PocketPC finally released! Apologies about the long delay. We were working hard on this! While there are likely to be a few issues that will be addressed as time goes on, all in all this is quite a good product. This is an add-on to the main Safelog software. Many small changes and visual fixes in the desktop software, plus adding support for synchronization with the PocketPC software.
3.50 December 15, 2005	Big changes in the visual display of the logbook, most obviously the ability to expand and collapse columns. This functionality will be expanded upon (ha ha) in future versions, including this carrying through to the flight entry screen. Also, some new icons and generally cleaner look all around. Ability to optionally add a "via" field to the route in Safelog CAA/JAA (also, the ability to turn it off in the FAA version, where it is enabled by default. We don't think many people will want to disable this in the FAA version, but the option is there). Some other changes, alas lost to a bit of forgetfulness. Mostly small stuff. PDA support well in the works now.
3.41 December 5, 2005	Small bugs in block/duty time display fixed (sorry about that). Ability to make color of background for night fields dark now an option in setup. Icon changed slightly
3.40 November 25, 2005	Support added for block and duty time records. Perhaps particularly useful for airline and military pilots. Enable this feature in 'setup.' Just a note: while we're adding all these new features, we recognize that should you be the sort to enable all of these, your logbook will undoubtedly be growing quite wide While in general we say "don't do that!" as you really shouldn't enable more fields than you truly need, we also recognize the problem of the wideness of the log screen and the length of the entry screen could for some really intense users be a big cumbersome. So, we will look at future versions into ways of making this easy to "fold up" so that your screen can be nice and tidy.
3.38 / 3.39 November 24, 2005	Happy Thanksgiving! New support for "Airline Flight Number". More than just recording the number such as "BA002" or "US098" that you enter, this (optionally) also remembers the departure and destination airports associated with a flight number, saving you time in the future. We're kicking ourselves for not thinking of this before, but, well, here it is. Enable this in "setup." Available in all versions of Safelog except for the CAA/JAA glider pilots version. Import wizard - a few fixes made, especially to issues affecting CAA/JAA users. Also in general there have been more improvements to the import wizard to make it faster and easier. Now remembers your screen size and window state between sessions. Support for more crewmember names (see the second setup screen in both the CAA/JAA and FAA versions)
3.37 November 9, 2005	Some small bugs related to display fixed. Visual .CSV importer is now complete. This allows you to easily import data from all sorts of other applications through .CSV and other files easily. To try this, click on the import/export button, then import, then go to 'wizard.' This took much too long to do, but the end result is nice.
3.36 November 6, 2005	While many changes are coming in a version soon, this 3.36 version is an "emergency" fix to fix a small but vital bug that involved certain data that was selected via new buttons that were added in 3.33 not saving correctly. Sorry about that! You can now disable the photos field in the main logbook (via setup) entry screen to make this a bit more compact.
3.35 October 27, 2005	Fixes Alaska airports in the master database. This is not a 100% fix, but should be helpful to pilots flying into many/most major alaska airports. We may (on the internal discussion board) change the whole master database functionality to be more 'up to date' and authoritative, though as of right now this is probably many months away as we are busy with more pressing things both in Safelog and in other projects. Please do remember that the airport database in Safelog is supposed to be a starter database only - as such, it is more comprehensive than any other airport database put out by any other logbook software maker. Still, it is beyond our current ability to keep this strictly up to date (we have to concentrate on making logbook software, of which the airport database is a relatively minor part - keeping a worldwide airport database up to date is a massive undertaking!).
3.34 October 25, 2005	Fixed a bug where you might have seen some extra "EGSC" buttons show up in the aircraft display. Added support for amphibian types - airplane single engine amphibian, airplane multi-engine amphibian, and amphibian (general). To make something register as "amphibian" both "land" and "sea" must be checked under that aircraft's characteristics. FAA only. To enable amphibian fields, look in the second page of Safelog. Faster data entry of Holders Operating Capacity, PIC name, etc in CAA/JAA version Open "comments" boxes are now sticky between entry sessions (more faster data entry)

3.32 October 9, 2005	fixed a small bug in the new automatic restore functionality by the way, apologies for the rapid fire releases. If you use Safelog every day, you might find the multiple updates a bit annoying - we understand. However, this is better than the alternative, which is not fixing known bugs promptly.
3.31 October 8, 2005	a few small fixes to things introduced in 3.30 fix to a bug in the reporting functionality that caused some totals not to be correct if an aircraft type was changed. actually this is the major fix for this release. interestingly, it had bee in the software since at least v3.20 and nobody noticed it until yesterday.
